Canada’s rig count continues strong uptrend while US count lags behind

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending October 25, the US rig count declined by one to 1,738, compared to a four-rig decrease the previous week.  The rig count was down by 88 from 1,826 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count decreased by four to 1,357 whereas the gas rig count increased by four to 376.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 16 in the week ending October 25 to reach 404, following a 31-rig increase the week before.  As such, the Canadian rig count was up 34 from 370 rigs during the same week a year ago.
